Samsung Galaxy S4 manufacturing costs
As the time is passing by, brand new Samsung Galaxy S4 is every time closer and closer to us. While we're waiting for this cool device, many people worldwide are giving their best to show Samsung Galaxy S4 in a full view. One of the interesting things about S4 is definitely its price, which is something always to discuss about. There is one opinion according to which, Samsung Galaxy S4 is just fairly basic upgrade from its predecessor, but! Yes, there is one big BUT, because Samsung Galaxy S4 is maybe not completely new device, but the price list of its hardware components is significantly different that the one of the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone. So, what's that means? Let's see it closely.
Market research firm IHS iSupply has released some sort of bill of used materials for Samsung Galaxy S4. That's means that hardworking people from this firm managed to calculate material expenses in production of new Samsung Galaxy S4. At the first sight it is obviously that new model after leaving the production line costs more than its predecessor. Quite understandably, isn't it?There are some nice examples how parts of new flagship smartphone costs more comparing the S3 part.
Display: This part makes the biggest cost increase. In that order, S4's full HD AMOLED display cost 75$ more in comparison with 65$ for the 720 WXGA resolution screen on the S3.
Samsung Galaxy S4Processor
Since the full information about S4's processor are still not so well known, IHS iSupply believe that Exynos 5 Octa eight-core chip cost about 30$, which is considerably more that 17.50$, which Samsung had to paid for chip on the S3.
Samsung Galaxy S4Sensors
Since Samsung Galaxy S4 has bunch of sensors (some of them are for humidity, temperature and IR gesture), the price of 16$ isn't big surprise, butexpectablemore that 12.70$ from S3 sensor price list.
Samsung Galaxy S4LTE
How S4 supports LTE technology, it is clear that it has to increase the price of this device. Why? Because this part of S4 costs 25$. On HSPA+ version on S3 this part had price of only 16$.
Summa summarum: IHS iSupply believes that Samsung Galaxy S4 costs 236$, which when added to the manufacturing cost, give a total production cost of 244$. This represents a 15% increase, or $30.40 more over the Samsung Galaxy S3.
