Would you Like Some Nougat? Android Nougat?
What’s new with Android Nougat?
Android Nougat has a few new, fresh options that you're gonna love. Top six new and improved options which makes Android Nougat so attractive and fun to play with are: 1. Multi-window-ing The first option is the ability to create multi-window via Split-screen, in portrait and landscape mode. It means that you are having two windows at the same time on your smartphone or tablet. It is really easy to ’turn it on’ – just press long on the recent applications button, and it’s done! Please note that the user can resize windows only in portrait mode, while the landscape gives a 50:50 window proportion. Also, while viewing it in a portrait, the first app which is on top of the screen is the main one while you can change the other (the one on the bottom of the screen). Android Nougat has overcome the problem with using the same space on the screen while using the multi-window feature quite elegantly. If you want to type a message or a URL in one of the app, Android will resize the app to fit the keyboard. As soon as the keyboard is off, the screen will be in multi-window mode again. 2. Where are you, app? The second new feature is quick app switching. Android Nougat allows you to switch between two recently used applications. The user can change the app in full-screen mode, or in multi-window mode, in which switched app has to be the one on the bottom of the screen. 3. The new menu The third new option is the Settings menu, which you can enter quickly by pulling down on the screen. This method resembles a lot like the ones on Samsung and LG smartphonesbut has actually changed. In the previous versions, the user had to scroll all the way down to see the complete Settings menu, but with this option, you will see all the menu buttons – for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and much more. Android Nougat has defaulted 5 toggles that are always present in Quick Settings menu. These buttons are quite small but highly readable. 4. Dose Mode 2.0 The next option is an oldie but a goodie – Dose Mode, but this time new and improved version 2.0. Dose Mode is an option also available on Android Marshmallow, which saves battery life, whenever you aren’t using your phone, but only when it is stationary. However, version 2.0 reduces tasks which are working in the background as long as the screen is turned off, which means your phone can be in motion or in the stationary position. That is how Android Nougat is saving you battery life! 5. Smart notifications What about the notifications, you may ask! Well, Android Nougat is bringing two new features – direct response and grouping the notifications. Directly responding means that you don’t have to leave the current app, to answer the message - you can reply to the notification in its ’floating bubble.' Also, you can delete and share content within the notification, without entering the app. Grouping notifications is possible in one messaging app. By using two-fingered pressure, you can ’ungroup’ them – view them as an individual or you can press long on the notification to turn them off or to silence them. By pressing on the notification, you can determine how you would like to be notified – showing notification silently, blocking the notification or not silencing or blocking it entirely. 6.Androidgoes bilingual The last, but not the least, this feature will help bilingual users and the ones that like to travel. This feature may come in handy when you’re on a vacation and you want to check how to say “Thanks!” Android Nougat will allow you to set primary and secondary language. What about performance and speed in Android Nougat?
The biggest change in this Android version is better and faster graphics performance which allows good control of GPU. Also, with the optimization of JIT compiler, any processing speed can increase up to 600%, unlike the previous version. Can I have it? Please!
You can have it, but only if you have specific smartphones or tablets. Android Nougat is on the market right now but is slowly coming to our devices. Huawei Nexus 6P, LGNexus 5X, Motorola Nexus 6, and Google Pixel C device will soon get their update, probably in the next few days. It's a tradition that "Google devices" gets their upgrade first. All the other manufacturers, such as Sony, LG, Samsung, Motorola, HTC, and others, will start upgrading their devices soon. So, if you are the owner of a flagship device you can expect to get your Android Nougat later this year or in begining of 2017. Everyone else will have to wait much longer, or live with some erlier edition of Android OS. Image source: Android - official blog, PhoneRadar, the VergeCategories
