HTC Windows Phone 8S is a great choice for people who are looking for a mid range smartphone, a well-built phone with solid performance. This model became available in November 2012, so it's pretty "fresh", and we finally have the opportunity to deal with its previously announced great number of attributes, and let's see what this is all about. Follow our www.mobileshop.eu review of the HTC Windows Phone 8S. Dimensions and design. In times of gigantic devices and displays, people are looking for a compact, neat and tastefully designed phone, and the HTC Windows Phone 8S provides just that. The dimensions of this model are 120.5 x 63 x 10.3 mm, and with this size it weights 113 grams. This phone, has the HTC's distinctive design touch, but no matter that this device is a mid ranger, it definitely possesses the traditional high HTC quality. The casing is made of two parts, which has a soft (you might say rubber) finish, that further increases the control of the device when in hand, and preventing the possibility of dropping this model from hands. This model is easy to use with one hand thanks to the well balanced weight and dimensions. The bottom of the device is different colored, and two-color model gives the appearance that distinguishes it from the numerous black phones currently available. When the bottom cover is removed (giving you the ability to change colors of the phone), the SIM card (micro SIM) and memory card (Micro SD up to 32GB) “storage” can be found. The on / off / lock the phone buttons are placed at the top of the device, and the side button enables you to adjust the volume. Above the display, a microphone and LED notification light can be found, and below the display are the three capacitive keys that respond to the touch very well. The first impression of this smartphone is great, and if we could judge on the first impression, we would say that the HTC Windows Phone 8S is a great choice. [caption id="attachment_3255" align="aligncenter" width="403"] The design of the HTC Windows Phone 8S enables its user to handle the phone with one hand with ease[/caption] DisplayHTC equipped this model with a 4-inch S-LCD touchscreen display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels at 223ppi pixel density, which pleases our demands. This pleasure remains while using the phone, because the picture quality is at a high level. The display colors are natural, display light is solid (even when using the phone outdoors), and the viewing angles are high, both horizontally and vertically, so the image is not "washed out" even if the phonies not looked at a right angle. We have experienced a relatively quick "smudging" of the display, and it is often necessary to wipe it, but this detail (except in aesthetic terms) is not really a problem. Software As the name of the model suggests, this model works with the latest Windows Phone 8S operating system that is up to the task. This is understandable, because this version of the Windows OS is used for many higher class phones than the reviewed HTC Windows Phone 8S. This operating system brings a number of interesting solutions to this model, such as integrated social network of contacts in the People Hub, the Weather app notifications to which this model provides interesting wallpapers when unlocking the home screen. The WP8 software startup screen provides other useful information such as news, stock market on startup ... [caption id="attachment_3253" align="aligncenter" width="442"] The HTC Windows Phone 8S is available in a variety of colors, a color for everyone's taste[/caption] Hardware The fact, that the HTC Windows Phone 8S is a great choice is also proven by the phone’s "engine". This model is equipped with the S4 Plus 1GHz Dual core processor, which is a bit weaker than the S4 processors embedded in a higher price range models. But since WP8 OS is "placed in a clear framework" that difference hasn’t been felt while using the HTC Windows Phone 8S. When testing some demanding games on this phone, at no time, we got the impression that the processor or graphics card (Adreno 305 GPU) couldn’t handle the task. This model comes with 512 MB of RAM which is half of the "big brothers" from the WP8 operating system series, and the speed difference is noticeable when launching applications, but in this class is the HTC 8S is a great phone. The modest internal memory of 4GB must be criticized, because nowadays the 4GB can hardly meet the needs of demanding users, but given the option of expandable memory with a Micro SD card, this should not be taken as something tragic. Camera This model is equipped with a 5MP camera assisted with a LED flash for low light situations, and (unfortunately) does not have a secondary camera for video calling. Camera interface does not deviate from what we've seen in other Windows Phone 8 phones, and a user of this model is graced with possibilities like the contrast adjusting, sharpening, adjust saturation, etc.. Images snapped with this phone’s camera are natural, rich in detail (we were pleasantly surprised with this richness for this resolution), and images are sharp! The video recordings made with this model are in HD 720p quality with fluid 30 frames per second. Colors during video recording are a bit fainter but well-balanced, and the video is still rich in detail and sharp enough. Sound recording while shooting proved solid, until you are in a noisy environment. So our conclusion about the camera is that for picture snapping lovers, the HTC Windows Phone 8S is a great choice [caption id="attachment_3252" align="aligncenter" width="432"] HTC Windows Phone 8S is a great choice[/caption] Connections and Battery In terms of connections, the HTC Windows Phone 8S is a great choice. With the IE10 browser, this model has proved to be an excellent phone for viewing web pages, the zoom in-out, rendering, and page loading were highly fluent. The HTC 8S supports download speed of 42.2 Mbps (of course if the HSPA network allows it). In terms of connectivity types, this model comes with Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth and A-GPS support. The HTC Windows Phone 8S is equipped with a solid battery of 1700mAh, and HTC unfortunately has not released the official results of the battery test yet, but from our experience, the battery should serve you without charging for about 2 days (with an average use). Conclusion At the end of this review, we can now say that the HTC Windows Phone 8S is an excellent choice that will satisfy a wide range of customers. If there was a ranking of the devices in this phone’s (mid ) class, we are convinced that this model could be found competing at the top of the list with some popular models such as the Sony Xperia U. The HTC Windows Phone 8S will find its clientele among both women and men, younger and older generations. This will be easily accomplished thanks to its harmonious dimensions, above average build quality, excellent processor performance, display and camera… You can have a detailed look and purchase this smartphone phone on our web page www.mobileshop.eu We would like to hear your opinion about the HTC Windows Phone 8S?
