Sony Xperia T3 Review
Sony Xperia T3 Design
According to the official data, the T3 has 150.7 x 77 x 7 mm. With 7mm in waist, it's one of the thinnest phablets out there. Since this is giant device and it has only such a few mm in thick, it gives an impression of unusual device. And really, it's so. Generally I like to see this kind of beautifully packed devices. The T3 is also lightweight with only 148g, so you can put it in pocket and forget you're taking with yourself. Ok, not all the pocket are ready to deal with 5.3-inch device, but if you find one suitable, you will be satisfy with such a low weight. Maybe the Xperia T3 is comfortable to fit some larger pocket, but our hands are the ones that have to deal with it every day. Don't be fooled with the fairytales that 5+ inch devices are easy to hold by one hand. You can grab Xperia T3 with single hand, but you will not be able to reach all the displays' angles. Then you realize you have to put the other hand into the game. So, the most of the time you are spending with this Xperia you will be lacking free hand. Let's take a quick look on Xperia T3's design. Like any other Xperia, the phablet looks elegant and exclusive. It comes with classic round shape form and Sony is producing it in white, black and purple color. On the sides are nicely metallic surfaces, which break the polycarbonate monotony. If you think of comparing it with premium Xperia Z2, don't do that because the T3 isn't premium, already middle class member. So, there is no gold credit card here, only the regular one. The back of the phablet is made of plastic. But the quality isn't bad at all. It doesn't sag, neither you can see some massive fingerprints gathering here.Sony Xperia T3 Display
The 5.3-inch IPS LCD display comes with 720p resolution. We would be happy to heard this a year or two ago, but in 2014 at least we expect is 1080p. This is probably the biggest drawback of this lovely phablet. Luckily, Sony has one ace in the sleeve. It's called Triluminos technology which enriches the picture quality with intensive colors. At least it's some sort of comfort in the time when we have LG G3 with first quad HD display. The viewing angles are very good. It gives very good perspective to this Xperia because this kind of device are more family friendly that smartphones, because of their bigger screen. So, gather the family or friend and start enjoying the movies or some YouTube video. The display is showing some good results at direct sunlight, so there's no much need looking for shades. So, everything is cool except the resolution. The picture quality is good, there's no question about it, but Sony already has better alternatives. The Xperia Z Ultra pack bigger 1080p display and it costs less.Sony Xperia T3 Specs and Performances
Sony Xperia T3 is working on Android 4.4 KitKat with well known Sony's UI. The UI is something we've already seen so many times, so there are no big surprises here. The new thing is SmallApp, which allows user to work with several apps simultaneously in multitasking mode. Also, the T3 brings standard Sony's apps. The T3 has 4G connectivity and 8GB of internal storage. Since it's not particularly large amount of GBs, the microSD slot is a right solution. Under the hood is quad-core 1.4GHZ Snappdragon 400. It gives a nicely balanced work without delays and lags. Also it allows playing some very fresh gaming titles. The battery life is something we expected. On moderate use, the phablet is available whole day. The video playback drains battery for some 4-6 hours.Sony Xperia T3 Camera
This phablet has a great camera. With Exmor sensor and Superior Auto mode you can grab some extra photos. This 8MP camera makes crisp photos with enough of details, but not enough for competing with Xperia Z2. Beside the Auto mode, user can pick some other camera is offering, like HDR. Also, the cam is ready for full HD photos. The Xperia T3 has front-facing 1.1MP camera for selfies and it bring some options for beautification, but my advice is keep away from them...Sony Xperia T3 Verdict
Sony Xperia T3 is reasonably packed and priced phablet. With the price under 300 euros, it cost moderate, but if you plan to save some money on your next phablet purchase, you can wait for some time until the price drop. Sony Xperia T3 brings 4G and a large screen, but at the same time missing the 1080p resolution. If this is too much for you, check Xperia Z Ultra in our offer. Photos:sonymobile.comCategories
