Alcatel One Touch Idol
Alcatel One Touch Idol design
When you take Idol you will immediately feel how easy this handset is. With a weight of 110g Alcatel One Touch Idol is one of the lightest smartphones with slightly larger screen. If we know that 4.7 inches might be at the moment not too big for a smartphone screen, it's clear why you will not have trouble using Idol with one hand. All in all, the Alcatel One Touch Idol is a device that looks better than its price says. Confirmation of this is non - removable back with metal finish. Because of that, the phone does not look cheap, no matter what the body is made of plastic. At the bottom of the screen are three capacitive buttons that are very practical. On the side are placed two SIM card slots (if you have a dual SIM version), and the micro SIM slot, if you using “regular” one. Alcatel switched the power button to the top of the phone, which is not very practical, but it’s not the end of the world. You should know that this phone is produced in different colors (silver, black, red, green and blue).Alcatel One Touch Idol screen
We have already mentioned that the phone is equipped with 4.7- inch screen. It looks like his size is the only quality here, because with a resolution of 540x960 pixels this phone isn't touching the sky. At the same time, 236 pixels per inch are quite average value and the pixels are quite noticeable. Viewing angles are slightly better and presentation of colors is good. Also, this screen displays the content nice under the bright sunlight, but the impression is that the screen doesn't have the same backlight lever on the whole screen surface.Alcatel One Touch Idol software and dual SIM feature
Idol is not just the freshest model when the software in question. It is 4.1 (Jelly Bean) version of the Android operating system. The user interface is not a big experiment, and everything seems like it's in the right place. Thanks to the large screen, a keyboard is the better part of the phone. The text is easy to enter and errors are kept to a minimum. Alcatel One Touch Idol is a dual SIM device (although there is a regular variant). Thanks to this feature you can leave your other phone at home. This way you can use the services of two operators, one SIM for phone calls, and other for 3G Internet access. However, you can’t make calls over both cards at the same time.Alcatel One Touch Idol performance
Like the other Alcatel’s new models, One Touch Idol also has MediaTek processor, which doesn't offer performance as a Snapdragon, but it certainly reduces the price of the product. Idol works by dual-core 1GHz processor in combination with 1GB of RAM. Overall, the phone works decent, but it’s still away from what in reality is. Despite the occasional slowdowns, fortunately there are no major problems in the work (except in the case of 3D video games). Alcatel One Touch Idol has 16GB of internal memory, which is barely 13GB available. Still, it should be sufficient for at least 80 % of users, and for those who want more space for photos, music and videos there is a microSD slot for up to 32GB (but only in single SIM variant). Despite a weaker processor, Alcatel One Touch Idol is good internet surfer. Pages are loaded quite well, zooming content works nicely. Idol is not equipped with 4G connectivity, but there are 3G and Wi - Fi replacement, as well as GPS and Bluetooth.Alcatel One Touch Idol camera
With 8MP sensor and LED flash, Alcatel One Touch Idol should be decent multimedia device. Still photos are mediocre, even those taken outdoors in plenty of light. There is the option of HDR photos, but it does not elevate the quality, especially when the indoor photos are about. Similarly, the video has a lack of details, even at the maximum resolution of 1280x720 pixels.Idol Alcatel One Touch Idol battery life and conclusion
Non - removable battery has a capacity of 1800mAh. This is the average battery, with that power Alcatel One Touch Idol can push one day. According to the factory data battery is enough for about 3 hours of talktime on 3G, which is quite low. Alcatel One Touch Idol is not really a rising star. It is a model of the middle class, which offers dual SIM feature, almost a perfect design, but poor performance, especially when it comes to camera and processor. Therefore Alcatel One Touch Idol has strong competitors who offer far better performance with a similar price. Some of them are Google Nexus 4 and LG Optimus L7 II.
