LG G Flex review
LG G Flex is definitely not an ordinary phone. It's there to show that some things are different and we love them just for that. LG G Flex is a curved phone with self -healing back, a concept turned into reality. This unique phone has brought so desired publicity to LG, and now the company is developing new models because it knows that it's not a small player anymore. This phone definitely pushed up LG in the circle of the leading manufacturers of mobile devices. Ladies and Gentlemen, LG G Flex is in front of you. So, come along to see what makes it so unique.
LG G Flex design
Beside rounded shape, you'll notice its large dimensions. LG G Flex is a giant 6-inch screen phablet. With 81mm in width it seems large even in comparison to the 5-inch models, which are usually giant to the rest of the average phones.
The phone is made of plastic. Don't be fooled by its metallic shine, because the phone can slip out of your hand easily, so keep that in mind at least initially until you get used to it. Otherwise, geting used to it may take a while because this is the first curved phone you're facing with. Certainly it looks strange. Some like it, some don't. One thing is for sure, nobody will remain indifferent to the LG G Flex.
Like the LG G2 and LG G Flex has a minimalist design, with no hard buttons on the side. All buttons are located on the back, below the camera. They aren't very accessible to fingers, but considering the size and shape of the phone this solution is better than the classic one. The buttons respond well to the touch. To wake-up screen just tap twice on it if you don't like the buttons on the back.
LG G Flex can't be opened. This means that there is no microSD slot, also, pre-installed battery remains the only source of power.
LG G Flex screen
The screen is a key part of the phone. Thanks to it, the phone has this form. LG G Flex has a P- OLED display. This is similar screen to the one on Galaxy S4. Here pixels individually release light without the need for LED backlighting. However, a key difference is within the last layer, which is mostly made of plastic instead of glass. The last layer is the protective layer of the screen, and it's made with Gorilla Glass technology, which prevents scratching.
The screen is curved just like the the phone, and it can be flattened without fear that your phone will crack. If you look closely you will see that the screen has a nice large surface area available to the eye, far larger than on flat screen. However, the size of the screen plays a major role. Reflection in daylight is reduced to a minimum.
If you wear LG G Flex in the back pocket of pants don't worry because in this way it will not be damaged, but you should know that it is not very comfortable.
The image quality is not at the highest level. P-OLED is not displaying colors correctly, and there are especially problems with black. Also, the texture is extra issue, which can be solved by boosting brightness to maximum, but it will eat up the battery. Such problems are typical for older models, but this new technology has yet to make progress in order to eliminate them. Also, LG G Flex has a 720p screen, which is not good enough on big 6 inches. With 245ppi LG G Flex fails sharply to display the text.
LG G Flex Self - Healing Back
This is another great advantage of this phone . Flat surface covered with a thin coating makes scratches invisible. This solution works fairly well in practice, but remember that bigger damages will not fade away.
LG G Flex performance
LG G Flex runs on customized version of Android 4.4 KitKat. The interface is drastically different from the previous ones, but the visual impression is good. LG decided to install special "Flex" theme here. Some things are better, but some, such as notification bar quite complicated. UI takes a lot of memory, so the user has 28GB available of total 32GB. LG G Flex has many useful features, such as QuickRemote, QuickTheatre, Safety Care and much more.
LG G Flex uses quad-core 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 800 and 2GB RAM. Although not the fastest, LG G Flex works incredibly fast. Definitely better than HTC One and Galaxy S4. Therefore, it is suitable for video games.
LG G Flex camera
The camera is at the level of LG G2. It's a 13MP, but without optical stabilization which is a shame. However, there is a LED flash. Camera app is usual, without a lot of experiments. Therefore, it is simple and convenient.
At daylight image quality is fantastic. Shooting speed is high, whereas at night the camera is slightly slower. Photos are sharp with vivid colors. Night mode is also doing a good job. Video recording is particularly impressive thanks to 4K quality and dual recording mode.
LG G Flex conclusion
This unusual phone with a generous 3,500 mAh battery brings quite of fresh experience. As an experiment with new technologies, LG G Flex deserves all the praise. However, the problem may be its price, which is big question if we know that the phone has a small problem with the screen resolution, the potential lack of memory and interface. Also, due to the 6-inch display, this phablet isn't for everyone, but its revolutionary shape is its main commercial asset.
