Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 review
When it comes to tablets, Samsung has decided to go one step further. Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is a device that moves the current standards. In this way, the tablet is equal with laptop. However, in some ways they even outmatch them. In terms of price of course. Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is the new 12-inch tablet that comes in several versions, depending on what suits your internet connection needs. Also, depending on your choice you will have different pricing and description for each model. Any way, Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is no ordinary tablet and is not intended for everyone. That's for sure.
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 vs Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is not, of course, completely original device. For the most part it resembles the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, with increased dimensions. The similarity is reflected in faux-leather that Samsung has applied on the model. The difference is, except in size, noticeable in the new KitKat Android 4.4.2 operating system and a new option that allows the tablet to remotely connect to your PC. User interface is also new.
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Design
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 seems kind of business. Plastic doesn't seem like a bargain for Samsung, and in combination with imitation of leather on the back it gives on visual effect. This “leather” looks good in the hands and the feeling when Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is placed in hands is what sets it apart from all other tablets.
In visual terms, the tablet is very similar to the Note 10.1 2014 Edition, and it can easily happen that you mix them. Stereo speakers on the sides are lifted high in order to avoid the possibility to cover them with hands. In the upper-right corner lies the redesigned S Pen with metallic glow. On the side there is another classic micro USB and USB 3.0 for fast data transfer. Of course, there is also a standard 3.5-mm audio input, as well as the power and volume control button. The infrared port also is located on this large tablet.
The front side has too many similarities with this older tablet too. In addition to Samsung's logo, there is a common home with two capacitive buttons. The screen is dominant and there isn't too much plastic edging around it. Just enough to accommodate your thumbs.
With 295.6 x 204 x 8mm tablet is bulky device. Hence its weight of 753g could not be less. However, Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is quite thin.
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Specs and Performance
When the difference in the versions is about, you should know that the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 comes in Wi-Fi version (using octa-core Exynos 5 SoC processor), then as a LTE model with 800 Snapdragon processor (there is a version with a 3G connection). Both versions have more than enough 3GB of RAM, and Bluetooth 4.0. Also, both versions come with 32 or 64GB of internal memory. If that's not enough, you can expand the memory easily. At the same time, the tablet is equipped with a huge 9.500mAh battery, which doesn't allow to be removed.
Tablet runs smoothly. Apps load quickly and display changes perform smoothly. A little bit different situations is when the Multi Window is about, because of smaller lags, which is, in fact, in contradiction to what Multi Window actually serves for. On the other hand, powerful performance and large screen display are ideal for multimedia content. The speakers provide good audio experience, even when they are amplified to the maximum, and this tablet is imposed as an alternative to cinema.
The battery is enormous, but it's because the screen is just like it. It is clear that it is consuming the most energy. For an average use ( like surfing, writing e-mails and social networks, with a bit of video), the tablet can do about 10 hours.
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Screen
Super clear 12.2 inch LCD screen has very good resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. That means a busy schedule which has 247 pixels per inch. That's why you will not see a pixelization at all. This screen features great view experience. If you need to use a tablet for some unusual angle, you should know that the viewing angles are excellent. The only serious objection is the readability of the content in the daylight, no matter what the screen can be very bright.
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Software
Samsung has installed quite a number of applications. However, the initial screen does not look cluttered, but that doesn't matter because you organize own application on your own later. Among them, there are many useful apps, like the one I mentioned - Remote PC (for connecting to PC), Smart Screen (which follows the movement of your eyes) etc. Of course, there are several S Pen apps, like Action Memo, Scrapbook, Sketchbook and of course S Note. Pen works in the same manner as at Note 10.1. When you remove it from the tray it automatically trigger options that allow easier and faster work on this device.Multi Window option is enabled. This means that you have access to four parts of the screen, which you can fill by dragging the apps, either by finger or S Pen. These windows can be zoom in and zoom out, depending on how you want.
If you've used Flipboard, then new interface won't be big problem for you. Otherwise, you'll need time to get used to or simply set a different home screen.
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Camera
Tablet has one of the best camera ever installed on this type of device. However, 8MP sensor is most important when it comes to Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, but the question is whether you really are ready to shoot with a 12.2-inch device ? This large device isn't easy to hold in the right position for shooting, plus it will take people on the street probably funny to watch on you. Also, we mentioned that the screen doesn't feel well in the sunlight.
The camera is very good. The interface is in feature rich (like those from the Galaxy S4). Photos are above average, with authentic colors. Worse results were in the video, regardless of 1080p epithet. Videos are with a lot of details, but somehow are not liquid. However, for most users, it will do a good job.
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Conclusion
Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is available in several versions. Based on this there is a range of prices, so it is necessary before any purchase to consider what you expect from a tablet. Issues of processors is more or less secondary, but consider whether you really need LTE connection or you will be satisfied with Wi-Fi or 3G connection. That's the biggest problem with the tablet because they forced you to make such choices. Another thing is memory. Both versions have enough memory, but consider whether it is wise to give more money to buy a 64GB or just a memory card and compensate the lack of space.
Also, Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is a new kind of tablet, which means that certainly brings a high price. Also, consider whether you really need such a large tablet. The 10-inch alternatives are plentiful and they cost less.
