The consequence of all this is reduced number of phones which BlackBerry will produce in the next years. In addition, 4,500 workers were left without jobs.

After all of this, like a thunderstorm out of the blue sky, came the news that BlackBerry is sold to finance giant Fairfax Financial Holdings. The former symbol of the corporate elite was sold for $ 4.7 billion. If this figure seems miniature, because we know that Nokia was sold for a lot more money, keep in mind that BlackBerry recorded losses for years and was failing to take the third place when it comes to operating systems. It has been known for a long time that the Android and iOS are too strong for BlackBerry, it turned out that even Windows Phone was stronger.

BlackBerry - new chance!?

In a world where BlackBerry has failed to keep strenght in the fields of software and hardware, only thing the former legend could do is to withdraw into itself. Now it's up to new owner to finalize the contract, do payments to shareholders and get things start moving. Fairfax already owns 10% of shares of BlackBerry and it is expected that they have serious intentions. In any case, by the 4th November, when it should all be resolved, we'll see what kind of fate awaits once great BlackBerry. It seems that this world is really cruel!
