One of the frequent questions that we have been asked is: “Difference between Android and Windows Phone?” We have decided to do our homework on this subject and to let you know the difference between these two platforms. Presence on the MarketAndroid-this platform has been present on the market since 2007 and it represents the first operative system that was built solely for touch screen mobile devices and tablets. Today, 80% of mobile devices all around the globe work thanks to Android. The good news is that this platform is available to everybody, it can be used on the phones which cost around 100€ and on more expensive devices. But the bad news for the cheap mobile phones is that their manufacturer reduces all the possibilities that the operative system is offering or is using the versions that are not updated. So there is a big difference between the operative system that is offering a device of 500 euros and the operative system that can be found on a phone of 100 euros. Windows Phone-this is the successor of the platform Window Mobile which was used on the smart devices that are known to be designed for business people in the late 90s and on the beginning of 2000. Unlike Windows Mobile, the Apple and the Android are oriented to all the users of smart devices and that is why Windows Mobile is starting to lose the battle between these two companies. Something had to be done, so Windows Mobile has decided to release Windows Phone on the market in 2010. Although only 3% of global market usesit,Windows 10 is considered to make a big impact on the market and win the hearts of new users. The Layout and the Design of the Operative System The layout is one of the first things that you will notice when you decide to buy a phone. Android- has not changed too much since its first appearing. The last version of this operative system is Lollipop (5.1.1) it is very entertaining and colourful, the icons are matching layout and this is known to have the name material design. The appearance (background), the setting of the apps and of the widgets can be easily changed. You will be the one that will determine how the background will look, and how many apps will be active. You will be also in power to determine which widgets to be visible on the screen (weather, alarm, bookmarks, calendar, directions/Google Maps, etc). Windows Phone-we were surprised to find out that Microsoft did a pretty good job designing the Windows Phone. Some even say it is better than Android and iOS. Metro design which is characteristic for Windows phones is known for its live tiles. Moreover, these tiles are in fact links that will open or present apps, features and many other items (browsing the web, see the upcoming mails, have a pick into your photo library and so on). These tiles will literally be your secretary because it will inform you about everything that is going around you. For example, one tile will inform you that you got a new message, the other one will show you the text of the message and who sent the message. As for the apps, you will be in charge of enabling/disenabling the tiles on your home screen and you will also get to change the colour of the tiles or of the background. Users can rearrange the tiles so that everything is tied up, while apps on the Android phones are a little messed up. ApplicationsAndroid- has a considerable advantage over Windows when a wide range of apps are concerned. On Google Play you will be able to find over a million of diverse apps. There is actually an app for each taste and the best part is that a large number of these apps are completely free of charge. But our advice it is to always check the reviews of a particular app, since there are a lot of apps that lack in quality and are not safe to be used on your smart device. Windows Phone- opposite from Android, the Windows has less apps on offer on their Windows Store (around 400.000). Considering that Windows is a closed platform and on top of that has a strict control over the developers, we are sure that the apps found here are of good quality. The General features of the Operative SystemAndroid- offers the notification centre where you can find all the systematic notifications and also seek for shortcuts for most of the settings. There you can find the checkout points for camera, battery, for erasing or adding new apps and also you can find information about synchronizing your dates from your Google account, and much more. The procedure of finding these features is very easy and you will also have a great time searching for them. On the newest Android operative system many of these options are working flawlessly. Windows Phone- version 8.1 Microsoft stands almost in the same line with Android. Windows Phone has added some new options: now its users can set the camera, control the power saving of the device, and manage the apps. There is always a “But”, Microsoft uses primarily its services, so instead of Chrome, you will have the Windows Explorer 11 and you will be using Bing as the search engine instead of Google. The GoogleDrive and Dropbox have been replaced with OneDrive. Once you get to know them, you will have a blast using the 8.1 Microsoft version. Which Operative System is better? Now that you know the difference between these two operative systems, there is still one more question left: “Which operative system is better?”- The one that will meet up with your expectations. If you are the type of person who likes to have everything tied up and likes to try new apps than Android is the right choice for you. On the other hand, if you like to keep things simple, than Windows Phone will be your pick since it is fast and has already everything adjusted to your needs. Windows Phone also offers Word, Excell, Power Point, OneDrive and if you fancy the live tiles than you should definitely pick some of Lumia models. Can you tell us your experiences? Which platform you consider to be the best? Feel free to leave a comment because we will love know your point of view.
